Poodles are one of the oldest dog breeds – traces of their ancestry have been found dating back to at least the 15th century! Poodles are often underestimated in terms of their intelligence; in reality, they are very smart and can learn commands faster than many other breeds. It's important to take into account the weather and the Poodle's age when determining how much time to spend on walks each day.
Poodles are loyal and affectionate, and make for excellent family dogs. They are highly intelligent, and survive and thrive in an atmosphere of lots of human interaction and stimulation. Poodles are also naturally obedient; with proper training, they can become obedient and well-mannered lifelong companions. They can also be easy to groom, as long as it takes place periodically to keep their coat soft and short. Poodles are also good with other pets and children, although it's best to teach kids how to properly respond around the dog and vice versa.
